Welcome to Exceptional Student Services!
To request Special Education records, please contact the ESS department.
Special Education records are destroyed five (5) years after a student has withdrawn, transferred, graduated, or exited from special education services. Mayer Unified School District intends to destroy the special education records of all students who exited special education services during the 2024/25 school year. If you wish to maintain your special education records please email renee.olson@musd43.org with the subject line: IEP Request 2024/25 If no student, parent, or guardian responds to this public notice, the district will assume consent to destroy the entire special education record specific to the student. Requests to collect records will be received until June 30, 2022. Any special education records not claimed will be destroyed per state and federal regulations.
The STAR Program (Strategies for Teaching based on Autism Research, Arick, Loos, Falco, Krug, 2015) teaches children with autism the critical skills identified by the 2001 National Research Council. It uses many evidence-based practices identified in the 2009 National Standards Report and 2014 National Professional Development Report.
The STAR Program includes detailed lesson plans, teaching materials, data systems, and a curriculum-based assessment for teaching in the six curricular areas of receptive language, expressive language, spontaneous language, functional routines, academics, and play & social skills.
