Free & Reduced Price Meal Program

2021-2022 Applications ARE NOW AVAILABLE

Please call 928-642-1234 if you have any questions.

Parents and/or guardians must re-apply each school year for the free & reduced meal program.

Your child may be eligible to receive free or reduced school meals. To apply for free or reduced-price meals, an adult household member needs to complete an application to determine eligibility.

One application should be used to list all children in the household.

Eligibility is determined by household size and income criteria. Children from households whose income is at or below the levels set by the USDA Child Nutrition Program are eligible. Foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court are eligible for free meals regardless of income and should be included on your application. All children in households receiving benefits from SNAP (food stamps), the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations or TANF, can get free meals regardless of your income.

Please remember that it is the parent's responsibility to make sure the Food Service Department receives the application. Each application can take up to 10 days to process. Benefits do not begin until the date your application is approved and you are responsible for all meals purchased prior to that date.

Print the application, fill it out completely with signature and bring it or mail it to Mayer Unified School PO BOX 1059 Mayer, AZ 86333 or return the application to your child's school. Please call Susie Allen, Food Service Director at 928-642-1234. Thank you.

Applications, Instructions, and Parent Letters are available for download here (See Files Section).

Applications are also available in English and Spanish at each school's office and from the school cafeterias .

Adult Meal Pricing in School Year 2021-2022 (SY 22)

The purpose of this memo is in support of School Food Services in maintaining compliance with the requirements for revenue from the sale of non-program foods, specifically the revenue from meals served to non-program adults.

Per Food and Nutrition Services Instruction 782-5 REV.1 Schools must price adults meals so that adult payments are sufficient to cover the cost of meals, including the value of donated foods

(USDA Foods) used in the production of adult meals.

Our school is opting into the waiver to operate the Seamless Summer Option for the SY 22 and operating a non-pricing program, since students will not be paying for reimbursable meals.  The amount of reimbursement received for a free meal under this option is $4.3175 for Lunch and $2.4625 for Breakfast.  The value of donated foods for SY 22 is $0.26

So for the SY 22 our adult meals are as follows:

  • Lunch:  $4.3175 + $0.26 =$4.58 minimum adult lunch price
  • Breakfast: $2.4625 = $0.26 =$2.72 minimum adult breakfast price.

Please contact Susie Allen 642-1234 with any questions regarding this guidance from ADE.

Thank You for your support.
